In an effort to fight for women's involvement, Prof. Muhayatun revealed that less than a quarter of women work in the field of nuclear technology worldwide. As a guest speaker in BRIN's Super Talkshow in commemoration of Mother's Day, she emphasized the importance of involving women in various fields of work related to nuclear technology.
Although nuclear technology still has a negative connotation in society, Prof. Muhayatun argued that its utilization can be applied to various sectors. She highlighted concerns and fears related to work in this field, even though nuclear technology has enormous benefits.
Prof. Muhayatun also explained that nuclear technology can be used in various fields, such as health with the use of radioisotopes for disease diagnosis, agriculture with genetic engineering mutations for superior plants, environment for pollution detection, and energy for power generation.
In her research focus, Prof. Muhayatun is more specialized in the field of environment and health.
